Teller started with the U.S. Postal Service. He worked for the Postal Service from 1972-1990 and worked in distribution for about six years until he started his own mail handler business at age 40.

Do you feel like you’ve accomplished enough in your career at the Postal Service to retire?

It is hard to really say because you really don’t know the answers to that. There are so many things that do not add up here, but you don’t ever know until you work in it.

So you’ll say it’s probably the end?

It’s hard to say. I can’t really say yes to it because you don’t really know how the numbers may fit. But I’m trying to do my part in the Postal Service and that’s about all I can do.

How do you find the time to practice?

I actually got in touch with a great friend of mine on Sunday when I wanted to get something going for the next day. He said he had a lot of friends that also had kids and he had one of them who would come with his kids to practice. When his mom is sick, he said I could come with him the next day and we can get a group of teachers coming or have people coming from our school.

Have you always wanted to be a teacher?

I think for me it started off on the side as I wanted to start my own mail sorting company and also a school where I can get my students to help me with things that they want to help me do. It just started like that.

What is your favorite day of the week when it comes to your work as a teacher?

My favorite day of the week is always, probably the 9:00 a.m. school day when they get ready to put in their kids. Sometimes the 11:45 a.m. is really good because the kids are actually doing something, like they sit at the desk and they’re actually doing a lesson or doing something. I really do miss work at that point, and when we have the kids on campus, I try to make the experience as good as I can because there are so many kids going around that I really want to let everything that happened in the classroom happen on the real campus.
