A group of protesters have created a website called We Are Change. It is a platform for those who oppose President Donald Trump’s executive and legislative decisions, and it provides a forum for supporters to share their thoughts, opinions, and stories about the Trump administration.
The site was started by a few people in Chicago on April 8. The site is the brainchild of Lisa P. Smith and has more than 600,000 unique users.
In the weeks that followed, the site was used almost entirely by supporters of Mr. Trump: There were fewer than 15 accounts registered from outside America, and only four people were logged in to the website at all times.
While the site is intended to be one for supporters of Mr. Trump, it is a place for anyone who thinks President Trump’s actions are “outrageous” or “dishonorable” and “unreasonable.”
“This is not going to be a protest,” Smith said. “This is a platform. This is a place where people can post, post, post, share their stories.”
The page is one the organizers of People Rise, a network of progressive organizations led by David Brock, a former aide to President Bill Clinton and chief of media relations for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
It quickly became a place for many to share their views about Mr. Trump’s executive order on immigration. More than 5,500 people are logged in to that page, according to Google Trends. On Twitter, Mr. Brock has more than 1.6 million followers.
This past Sunday night, however, Twitter users began to complain that their tweets were not appearing in the Twitter search results for the “peoplerise” domain name, causing much of the debate over the site.
