Well, I did, and I’m getting to it.
First I wanted to make sure all the key points with ukulele were well known. It is definitely not easy in this day and age to find a professional ukulele teacher. I also wanted to make sure my finger picking skills were polished. Since I only play the ukulele once a week, I really need to make sure I didn’t leave a slip.
Then I had to pick a price for a new ukulele. In the past, when a new ukulele cost less than $250, they were expensive and I wasn’t even in my teens yet. But now? In 2017 I can buy my first ukulele for $160 and a teacher to teach me how it all works would be only about $300. I also picked a price for my teacher to help my budget go down.
My new teacher is Dr. Scott Wilson from the United States. He was my first lesson and has been the most positive teacher ever since. In fact, every lesson he has taught me has been the best of my life. So, here was my list of things to look for.
Pros: My ukulele is beautiful. It looks so nice in person, that I would go crazy if I got it.
My ukulele is beautiful. It looks so nice in person, that I would go crazy if I got it. Cons: I am learning how to finger pick the ukulele with my index finger. But the rest of the fingers are not used. And I have to use my entire hand to play the ukulele. In the past, I just played single notes. I can’t just play four finger strumming. I have only played one note on an ella string while I have not done anything else with the ukulele.

All in all, I’m ready. I’m not crazy about buying it from China, but the price here is still reasonable. Now, I have to learn to finger pick the ukulele so it can be my teacher and I can work on getting my finger picking skills up to the point where I can play with an uke. I am ready.
