There are plenty of free tutorials, videos and books online, including Photo Editing, Photo Editor and Lightroom. But as with anything the internet is the place to go for the latest and greatest, and Google is the platform to go.

Can I use Photoshop in combination with other tools?

There are some things that you need to know, though. For instance, you can’t use Photoshop in conjunction with other Photoshop plugins, like filters or layers.

Also, as you use different tools together, you’ll also need to understand how they combine. If you don’t know, ask around.

Why can’t I use the same tool for every Photoshop preset?

There are some preset tools that are specific to one camera (such as Adobe Camera Raw) and certain software plugins have preset options they require.

For instance, some tools require Adobe Lightroom to be installed before you can add filters from Lightroom.

Can I use the Photoshop CC or Photoshop CC: CC 2013 Mac version in combination with another Mac version?

No. Photoshop 2013, for instance, isn’t compatible with Macs running OS X Snow Leopard, Mavericks.

Why is an image file size that big so much smaller for my computer than it is for someone else’s computer?

The reason, as far as I can tell, is that Macs are made a certain way – they’re not always equipped with lots of memory or powerful video cards, so there are lots of “RAM” and “memory” in each computer.

But those resources can be a problem when you have lots of Photoshop presets you want to make sure you can edit without slowing the system down too much. Also, Photoshop CC and Photoshop CC 2013 (and later versions) can use different versions of the same presets, which means they use different code.

Photoshop CC’s code doesn’t change between versions, for instance, even though you’ll see a big difference in file size when you make edits.

Another thing to keep in mind: Photoshop has a built-in image optimizer.

I’ve downloaded Photoshop CC on a Mac and the file size (or file format) is much smaller in all versions of the software than it is on some other software, such as Photoshop Elements. Why hasn’t that happened with Photoshop CC?
