I’ll save that for another time, but I’ve decided to give away my favorite tools for this post.
1. Grit
Grit is just as great if you use it for everyday photo editing and it doesn’t take up too much space on your desktop. Using Grit in Photoshop takes up less than 50MB, which is really nice, especially when you’re editing video.
Pros:
Quick and simple
Stable and flexible, but doesn’t rely on plugins
Fast and lightweight
Good for both video and photos
Good for any kind of editing on your smartphone
Cons:
Grit is super expensive
Slightly buggy for some users
2. Adobe Photomerge
I’ve recently learned how useful Photomerge can be, but I can’t stop loving the software because when it comes to photos it truly works. We’ll cover Photoshop and Adobe Photomerge in our next post, but before going into just how awesome Photo-Minerge is, check out this video I shot of my son playing with his iPhone.
3. Photosize
Photosize is a free image optimization tool for Windows, Mac, and Linux. It can do tons of awesome things for photo optimization, and its free version doesn’t have any restrictions. It also doesn’t have any restrictions on what you can do with it. It’s fantastic if you work around mobile apps that don’t allow you to save to the cloud.
Pros:
Great for both photos and videos
Free, does lots of cool stuff
Good for almost any kind of editing
Easy to download online
Cons:
No support
Limited to JPEGs, but you can use PNGs as long as you choose the right size
4. Photo Stream and Photomatix
These two utilities work together beautifully to help you save photo albums to your cloud storage, which is perfect if you do a lot of photography in your free time (as I do). Photo Stream gives you easy access to all the photos that you have saved, while Photomatix gives you the ability to view your all the photos you’ve saved online.
Pros:
Easy to use
Saves you tons of photos and makes life so much easier
Very helpful to find out what your photos are
Cons:
A little buggy to load your photos
I wish Photomatix
