How do I clean up an image in Photoshop? – Phlearn Pro Photo Editing 101

In a few seconds you’ll be able to see the difference between the image above and the original, and it looks much cleaner. Just remember to keep the edges in check. Let the white fill on the grey background bleed into the white fill on the foreground. That will be the key to getting it looking perfect.

You’ll also notice that the area where the white fills overlap has now transformed into a white box. This can get a bit confusing as you’re working in Photoshop, so try adjusting the alpha channel. It’s also possible to leave all the fill boxes as-is, but make sure to have the alpha channel set to a nice white value.

Step 2: Make Use Of Color Masking

The color masking technique above will allow our image to blend seamlessly using only black and white in an image. This technique is great for creating a moody, surreal effect – but it’s also a little slow when compared to the color masking techniques that we’ve been using so far.

For this final step, we need to find another way of adding a bit of mood, which is the perfect opportunity to get in on the action. Color masking is a fantastic tool if you’re able to use it in Photoshop CS6, but it’s not as versatile with previous versions of Photoshop.

One solution is to open two layers in Photoshop, one in black and white (if you’re using Photoshop CS6 or newer) and another in color. As you can probably tell, it’s a little trickier with older Photoshop versions, but it can get the job done really well.

Make sure the layer’s alpha is set to black and white and add a gray mask to the layer. On the next layer, just follow the same steps as above with the image itself rather than the image being in black and white. If you want a different color mask, just add a black mask layer, adjust it with an alpha of white and then swap your layer for the other.

Step 3: Adding Text To The Bottom Left And Top Right

Adding text is easy to do in Photoshop CS6 and allows you to have your very own, beautiful character. To do this, simply click on the text layer and click on the text brush. Select all the letters, then use the brush to add your own words.

We’ve already taken it upon ourselves in our first steps to get an eye-catching, quirky look at using the lettering tool. This technique isn
