How do you dress like the 1920s? – Buy Vintage Costumes

In those days, you wouldn’t ask a man to date you, and people weren’t going to ask you to be friends. I remember when I’d get dressed up for work, I’d think to myself, “When is the last time I ever wore a suit?” So I’d wear my hair low and a lot of that style. But the other day, I was at work wearing some vintage-looking jeans that my friends were wearing from an old store called Rave.

How have you found fashion and style changing?

In the ’60s, when things started getting a little different, there always seemed to be something different. And I never wore anything for too long before it changed. I do like wearing jeans. But I try to switch it up—whether it’s a t-shirt or something less formal.

The ’80s and ’90s were when the clothes started getting interesting. Now when people see us on social media, everyone’s wearing clothes I don’t have yet. I feel great and comfortable. I love my clothing but they are my personality. At the end of the day, I would really hate to wear something too casual and it wouldn’t match my personality.

You’ve written that you see women in different parts of the world wearing the same attire today. Do you think there are any fashion trends that are not really reflected worldwide?

Yes. For example, I’ve had people tell me that women in India are wearing traditional clothes like pants. I would love to know if they’re ever going to change that culture because there are so many people who wear it.

Who would be wearing such fashion?

I think the fashion that suits my life would be western. I would love to wear a jacket but it’s so rare to find that. I think that a certain person, maybe someone in a position of power, might be wearing that but the other ones in the city don’t have the chance to. Some people can dress more conservatively, but they don’t have the luxury of time to dress that way. I think there are so many types of women who would wear that.

You don’t wear one color everywhere.

The colors I wear most recently are brown and gray. I don’t believe in anything being so simple. The same person can wear gray and brown—whether it’s for work or for recreation. I’m wearing it because it’s mine and I’m happy with it.
